• From Roof Leaks To New Beginnings – My Life Right Now

Not to bring the negative vibes, but wow! I’m one overwhelmed mama! There’s too much to do and never enough time. Right now, I’m juggling a leaking roof (which has been a problem since the day we moved in!). Even though the defect liability period (DLP) is over, I’m pushing the developers to take responsibility and fix it. Honestly, I’m THIS close to taking legal action!

On top of that, we’re in the middle of hiring a domestic helper from the Philippines—selecting the right person, choosing an agency to assist with the paperwork, and preparing for the (not-so-fun) payment process. And after all that? More waiting.

But here’s a win—I landed a job! I’ll be joining a satellite communication service provider as an administrator (or “facility manager,” as the offer letter puts it), and I start in two days. It’s a mix of nerves and excitement, but I’m looking forward to this new chapter!

  • Celebrating Iliana’s First Birthday

It feels like just yesterday we welcomed her into the world – our little bundle of joy. I remember it all so vividly: Jia-Wei and I timing my contractions, waiting as long as we could before heading to the birthing center, only to find out I was just 4 cm dilated – though things escalated quickly. The pressure of her tiny head pressing against my pelvis, the struggle to hold her in until my doctor arrived, the deep breaths that carried me through each contraction as I tuned out the world and listened to my body. And then, that final push! The moment I heard Ili’s first cries and held her close for the very first time. I can’t believe it’s already been a whole year!

We celebrated her birthday at home with my in-laws, enjoying a cozy meal of home-cooked food. The highlight? Iliana’s very first cake – a vegan Belgian chocolate cake! We went vegan because she’s allergic to cow’s milk and eggs and has some food sensitivities. I was a little nervous about letting her try it, but thankfully she had no reaction. A sweet and safe first birthday treat!

Okay, I don’t know how you all do it, but getting everyone to look at the camera at the same time feels impossible! Sorry hubs! You’re the sacrificial lamb in this one.
